Summer 2024 Dance & Cheer Coaching Internship

Position Summary:
Skyhawks Sports Academy is seeking outgoing, passionate, and self-motivated Dance and Cheer Interns for Summer 2024. As a Dance and Cheer Coach, you will play a pivotal role in executing youth dance and cheer camps for kids ages 6-12 and receive comprehensive training as you progress to becoming a program Director. You will be responsible for executing all elements of a successful youth dance and cheer camp, including curriculum prep, managing class attendees, demonstrating skills, and serving our end customers. Qualified candidates should be knowledgeable on dance technique, have patience, and be able to communicate effectively with participants. They should also be passionate, supportive, and able to motivate their dancers. As a part of your internship, you will undertake a high-impact project to improve our Dance & Cheer programs in the future, contributing valuable insights to the company.
Responsibilities:
- Coaching Youth Dance and Cheer Camps: Actively coach children between the ages of 6-12 years at dance and cheer camps. Execute curated dance and cheer curriculum, provide clear instruction, ensure a safe environment, and inspire a love of the two sports and physical activity.
- High-Impact Project: You will have the opportunity to customize and undertake a significant project that is focused on future Skyhawks Dance & Cheer programs. Projects could include creating new business models, adding new dance styles to our curriculum, advising on process improvements, or identifying new ways to bring dance opportunities to young dancers.
Requirements:
- Current enrollment in an accredited university
- 3+ years of dance experience (studio, high school dance/cheer team, etc.)
- Clear understanding of dance vocabulary used in set curriculum
- Ability to demonstrate (full out) moves expressed in set curriculum
- Passion for Dance/Cheer and coaching children, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact
- Excellent communication and customer service skills for interacting with clients and participants
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to program locations throughout the Greater Twin Cities metro area
- Must have availability to work some evenings and weekends, but scheduling can be accommodated around school commitments
- Preferred: Prior experience with elementary-aged kids

Job Type: Coach/Internship
Pay: $15/hr (up to $17)
