Position Overview

The Junior Civil Engineer will help review the EOR’s (Engineer of Record) documents and drawings for the jobsite, including specifications, state and local building codes, vendor drawings and geotechnical reports. The candidate must also be willing to learn about civil engineering’s role in assisting with proposal efforts in civil and structural areas. The Jr. Civil Engineer will be working under the Lead Civil Engineer, and reporting to the Director of Engineering.

 

Position Summary

Join Gemma’s home office engineering team! We are looking for an individual with a strong passion for power, energy, renewables, and/or construction. This is an in-person, entry-level position designed to provide those just entering the workforce with immediate exposure to the EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) industry, while simultaneously presenting them with an unparalleled opportunity to help contribute to large-scale industrial projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic & attention to detail, the ability to work independently or in a group to meet deadlines, and a willingness to be further educated about the industry.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Review vendor drawings and specifications.
  • Review geotechnical reports and EOR documents and drawings.
  • Support field with Request for Information (RFI).
  • Review subcontractor design and shop drawings.
  • Identify discrepancies in scope of work, contract, plans, or specification and obtain resolution.
  • Document change order requests.
  • Learn to support proposal efforts in civil design and quantities.
  • Support Lead Civil Engineer with quantitative tracking and reporting of work progress weekly with Project Controls team.
  • Ensure federal, state, and local compliance codes, compliance of drawings, and permit drawings.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Structural Engineering.
  • Relevant internship experience with an EPC or in renewables, power, construction, or similar field is preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Possesses admirable problem solving, prioritization, organization, and communication skills.
  • Desires to work in the EPC industry and learn about its intricacies.
  • Works effectively & efficiently both in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Demonstrates accountability and takes ownership of tasks when needed.
  • Willing to work hard in order to meet deadlines.
