Plant Instrumentation and Control Intern - Fall 2024

Program Details:

  • Duration: 12-16 week internship program
  • Hours: 40-50 hours per week
  • Location: On-site in Devens, MA
  • Compensation: Hourly salary based on year in school
  • Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities:

  • Support AVEVA database operations including wiring between PLC modules and field devices, developing hook-up drawings, and database management
  • Assist in field testing, commissioning, calibration, and documentation of I&C field devices such as sensors, transmitters, and control valves
  • Contribute to the development and specification of PLC/IO modules and cabinet design for the Vacuum Pumping System (VACP)
  • Assist in developing Statements of Work (SOW) and contracts for cabinet fabrication
  • Participate in field installation and commissioning activities for cabinets and field devices

Projects Include:

  • AVEVA database support for construction documents and I&C device integration
  • Field testing and commissioning of I&C devices in the SPARC fusion system
  • Specification and design of PLC/IO modules and cabinets for the VACP
  • Documentation and project management for cabinet installation and commissioning

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing an engineering degree with a focus in Chemical, Instrumentation & Control (I&C), Mechanical, or Process Systems engineering
  • Hands-on experience through academic research, project teams, internships, or related activities
  • Demonstrated exceptional results in various pursuits
  • High self-motivation with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
