Sports Management Intern - Fall 2024

Position Summary:

Skyhawks Sports Academy is seeking outgoing, passionate, and self-motivated Sports Management Interns for the Fall 2024 season. This internship is designed for students majoring in sports management, education, or a related field who enjoy sports, staying active, and impacting children's lives. As a Sports Management Intern, you will play a pivotal role in coaching youth sports camps and receive comprehensive training as you progress to becoming a Camp Director. You will be responsible for planning and executing all elements of a successful sports camp, including curriculum prep, equipment planning, communicating with partnering organizations, managing rosters, and serving our end customers. Additionally, you will undertake a high-impact project to improve our business operations in the future, contributing valuable insights to the company.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Coaching Youth Sports Camps: Actively coach children between the ages of 2-12 years in various sports camps. Provide clear instruction, ensure a safe environment, and inspire a love for sports and physical activity.
  2. Camp Director Development: Gain valuable skills and knowledge to progress towards becoming a camp Director. Learn how to effectively operate a youth sports camp, including planning, coordination, and execution.
  3. High-Impact Project: Undertake a significant project to improve our business operations. Projects could include creating new business models, enhancing curriculum, advising on process improvements, or identifying ways to enhance customer experiences.

 

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in Early Education, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Business, or a related field at an accredited university.
  • Passion for sports and coaching children, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills for interacting with clients and participants.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to camp locations (elementary, middle, high schools, and some parks) throughout the Greater Twin Cities metro area.
  • Must have availability to work late afternoons, evenings and weekends, but scheduling can be accommodated around school commitments.
  • Must pass a background check. 
  • Preferred: Prior experience in coaching and/or childcare.

Work Location(s):

**We will schedule you within a maximum 30-minute drive from your home. Most camps are held at elementary, middle, high schools, and some parks. ** 

Job Type: Internship

Pay: $15/hr ($16/hr when promoted to Coach, $17/hr when promoted to Director)
