Engineering Co-Op

Job Title:  Quality Assurance/Product Development Co-Op Engineer
Reports to:  Director, R&D
Location:   Tech Center - 6707 Keaton Corporate Pkwy, O'Fallon, Missouri 63368
Timeframe:   January 2025 to August 2025
FSLA Status:  Hourly, Temporary, Seasonal

General Overview:  This is an Engineering Co-op position that will split time between Quality Assurance and Product Development, located at our O’Fallon, MO Tech Center, reporting to the Quality Assurance Director and Sr. Manager, Product Development for Rawlings Sporting Goods.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs quality audits and new product development testing of sporting goods items, including detailed testing and measuring requirements.
  • Reviews and tests returned goods, including feedback to the Product Manager and Product Engineer.
  • Learns and understands test equipment such as height gage, micrometers, calipers, weighing scales, ultrasonic thickness gage, helmet drop testing, durability test machines, NOCSAE test equipment, compression/tensile testers, spectrophotometers, etc.
  • Organizes and maintains testing log sheets and QA documents.
  • Maintains maintenance of the testing equipment.
  • Assists Engineering team at Asian Technical Center (ATC) in development of new testing methods and assists with any other new projects or additional tasks.
  • Assists Product Engineers on new product development for bats, helmets, protective equipment, bags, gloves and/or balls.
  • Creates and maintains specification documents for new products.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or Materials Science (must be currently enrolled in school, Junior standing or higher preferred).
  • Knowledge of hands-on product and process testing is an advantage.
  • Ability to complete and handle detailed measuring; ability to maintain the quality of work under stressful situation.
  • Knowledge of common manufacturing techniques.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and process control analysis.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Computer skills – Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, SQC Pack, Minitab, CHARTrunner, LABVIEW, or any other data acquisition and analysis software.
  • Requires strong organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, dynamic environment where precision, quality and confidentiality is top priority.

 

Working Conditions:  Manufacturing and warehouse working environment, lab environment, and/or office environment.  Potential work hazards exist due to work environment.
